JOB DESCRIPTION
Title: Director of Bright Green Bookshelf Program
Qualifications:
1. Bachelors Degree required with at least two years
experience in Managerial or Administration role in a non- profit setting or an Associates Degree with five years experience in Managerial
or Administration role
in a non- profit setting.
2. Experience in grant writing and fundraising preferred.
3. Have the capability to lift and carry items weighing
up to 30 pounds.
4. Knowledgeable of the purpose, principles, practices,
beneficiaries of early literacy and early childhood education programs in our
region. Must have a general knowledge of
community locations such as health care centers, retail shops, municipal
offices, banks, and other locations where children may gather with
families.
5. Strong oral and
written communication with excellent organizational abilities. Creative
marketing and writing abilities to successfully market and promote the program
in the community.
6. Proficient computer skills in MS office to set up,
track and record data to manage program outcomes. .
7. Experience with working and overseeing volunteers and
interns to supplement the program needs.
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:
1. Develop, implement and monitor set up and daily
operations for the program
2. Identify bookshelf locations and develop database to
record locations, contact personnel, inventory, and monitor usage and
restocking needs.
3. Organize book donations and book drives to collect
lightly used books for storage and delivery.
4. Assemble bookshelves as necessary and setup the
bookshelves at various locations with the proper authority.
5. Coordinate warehouse location and needs for
bookshelves to ensure success of program.
6. Identify potential funding sources including grant
opportunities, prepare grant applications, and manage grant requirements
relative to reporting outcomes.
7. Works
collaboratively and coordinate the work of the program with other early
literacy and early childhood programs in the region.
8. Process data records for the frequency of restocking
by each location, #
of books in warehouse, # of books donated, # of books delivered, inventory of
books by age appropriateness, etc.
9. As necessary, work with Institutions of
Higher Ed and other community based organizations to recruit, oversee and
supervise interns and volunteers to supplement program needs.
10. Coordinate and maintain all financial
transactions and records for the program including payments, expenses,
etc.
11. Acknowledge monetary gifts and donation of
books and record all data relevant to the program, build and maintain contact
with donors and prospective contributors on a regular basis.
12. Provide oral and written communication on the
project to Square One managerial team on an as needed basis. Report regularly to the Advisory Board
relative to progress/status reports, developments, challenges, and potential
grant or funding opportunities.
13. Other duties as assigned by your supervisor.
