Letter from the President

Dear Friends,

Happy New Year! I hope everyone’s holidays were filled with happiness and cheerful times spent with family and friends.

We are very grateful to all the donors and volunteers who gave so generously of themselves to spread holiday cheer to hundreds of our families. From the bottom of my heart, THANK YOU!

Welcome New Friends!

Square One is grateful to welcome Fitness Together of Northampton and Amherst, and Bell & Hudson Insurance of Belchertown to our growing family of generous community supporters. Thank you to owners Jessica Phaneuf and Matthew Phaneuf for believing in our work with children and families; and for participating in our “Adopt-A-Classroom” program.

Creative Collaboration

What happens when you bring together a team of preschool educators and the artistic minds at Enchanted Circle Theater? You get an awesome session of creative professional development!

Thank you to the creative team at Enchanted Circle for providing our educators with an enlightening day of learning how to engage, enhance and inspire learning.

Building Resilience

Square One is pleased to be partnering with the Springfield Department of Health & Human Services to present: Building Resilience in Young Children: Utilizing Developmental Tools. The February 1 summit is being held at Shriners Hospital in Springfield and will focus on the development of young children in Springfield, including current efforts to screen children's development before entering kindergarten.

Munch with a Bunch!

Take a break from your normal lunch routine and enjoy a delicious, healthy lunch and lively conversation with our Square One preschoolers. Guaranteed to be the highlight of your day!

Beginning in March, Square One will be hosting “Lunch Bunch” gatherings at the Tommie Johnson Child & Family Center on King Street in Springfield. These events will help raise funds to offset the cost of our programs and services; and raise awareness of our vital work with children and families.

Letter from the President

Dear friends,

It truly is the most wonderful time of the year! Experiencing the look of wonder and excitement on the faces of our children as they enjoy visits from Santa and all the goodies bestowed upon them is truly magical! We are so grateful to all of the donors who have made the holidays so special for our families.

Farewell to a Friend

Best wishes to longtime Square One employee Liz Szarkowski who will be relocating to South Carolina to be closer to family in that area. Liz has been an integral part of the success of Square One’s Health Families programming and will be sorely missed by the staff and participants.  We wish you and your family all the very best, Liz!

Adopt-A-Classroom

Thank you to the team at TGL for renewing their classroom sponsorship once again this year! Through the Square One “Adopt-A-Classroom,” area business and community leaders have the opportunity to partner with Square One to ensure that its classrooms are outfitted with the necessary supplies and tools needed to ensure each child’s success in the classroom. For more information on how you can sponsor a classroom, please contact Kris Allard at kallard@startatsquareone.org.

Operation Warm

Warm apple cider. A warm fire on snowy day. Warm holiday greetings from faraway friends and family. It’s the season of filling our hearts and bodies with warmth.

The team at Burkhart Pizzanelli did their part to spread warmth to 150 children in need of winter coats this season. The local accounting firm has organized a campaign through Operation Warm to purchase the new coats for children served by Square One.
